Hello, I am Steve Hayes. SAMS,AMS.
My career started in aviation as an A&P mechanic (15 yrs). I also earned an IA (inspector Authorization) from the FAA. I worked for Raytheon Aerospace for 9 years. After moving to the pacific northwest in 1988, I choose to stay here and that brought me into the construction trade, I operated my own contracting business for 14 years. During that time I worked towards getting my captains license and worked for a marine salvage and rescue company. Being on the water was a paramount reason to live here. That meant owning and maintaining boats. I have owned both wood and fiberglass vessels of power and sail. I have sent myself to classes and studied many manuals/books on boat maintenance. I have passes ABYC testing for Standards and Marine Electrical. Since 2010 my goal was to become a marine surveyor and I continue to educate myself to that end. In 2012 I was accepted into the Society of Marine Surveyors (SAMS) as a surveyors associate.
My surveys have always been accepted by the insurance industry, as they are neat, professional and accurate.
I am a licensed captain with a 100 ton rate. I worked for Vessel Assist N.W. as a tow captain and am on call for oil spill response with Global Marine. Worked as deckhand for Guemes Island Ferry. I am dedicated to safety and the well being of the marine industry, and a clean environment.
We aim to provide a quality, professional, ethical marine survey. As a surveyor I work for the person who hires me, it is my job to protect their interest. My survey findings, condition of the vessel is shared only with the hiring party.
